Stefanos S. Dolianitis

He is born in Corfu, born and bred in Philarmonic Society Mantzaros, since 1946 that he was a student of music with first teacher Chr. Dapergolas. He started in the philarmonic his theoritical lectures and he also started to learn clarinet and saxophone. He continued his studies in Athens music School, with the COrfiot music teacher of wind instruments Sp. Lazarou. On 1951 he came back to Corfu and he continued lectures with Theodoro Kavvadas and Alexandros Grek (in music theory and piano). On 1958 he enter to the national Music School and he take his diploma on band direction and orchestration (student of Manolis Kalomoiris ). Since then he is conductor - director of the Philrmonic Society Mantzaros (as he was already sub. conductor). He also compose music for the theatrical play of Theodoros Zamanis, "Enas Korfiatis katafertzis" and he also gane music theme to many poems of Zamanis' such as "Na xanartheis, Korfiatopoula" and other. he is the director and the conductror of Philarmonic Society Mantzaros since 1960 and as a full-blooded bandist he has conduct all the classic repertoire of the band, as many of the trascriptions are made by him (some examples of transcriptions are the Unfinished Symfony of Fr. Schubert, Il Lombardi, Tanhauser, Lohengrin of R. Wagner, etc). He has also many transcriptons of the special light music, of operetes such as the "Apaxides ton Athinon", "Ypopsyfios Vouleuths" of Spyros Xyndas etc. He is alos the composer of many marches and marcias (holy marches). He was the creator of the student band. In his successful carrier the major point is the conducting of the Philarmonic Orchestra of Pleven (Boulgary) with soloist the virtuozo trumpet player, Sokrates Anthes, who is a member of Philarmonic Society Mantzaros, and he started studing trumpet in the philarmonic with teacher the dear departed Athanasios Vogiatzopoulos.

Stefanos Dolianitis passed away on November 2009.
