Mastoras Michail (Corfu, 1866;-1942)

Exceptional musician, he was the major factor of the creation of the Corfu music School on 1894.

As the creation of the music school was done, the council rent a piano on the prize of 10 greek drachmas per month and Mastoras was the first teacher of music there, with month salary 50 drachmas. at the same time there was a move for the creation of a ig choir that soon made her appearance at the Holy Church of St. george at the Old Fortress of Corfu, singing the Mass that Mantzaros wrote. But after a short period of time, after only seven months, Mastoras was made to left his position due to the fights and the jealousy of many factors. He alleged that he had health problems and his replacement was Eugenios Kolettis. After that he take the position of teacher at the Philarmonic Society Mantzaros. In three periodds of time (19.5.1899-6.1.1900/ 4.5.1900-17.4.1902/1.11.1908-31.8.1911) was the director and conductor of FEM. Meanwhile on the Fall of 1902 he take the lead of the Skoufas Philarmonic of Arta (with salary 225 drachmas per month). His next position was at Larisa, conducting the philarmonic of the Music and Gymnastic Association Larissas (from November 1911 till 1919;). He also was a teacher at the Philarmonic of Leukada. He was the father of Stathes Mastoras, semantic composer of operetes.
