Philarmonic Society Mantzaros was on the First Olmpic games of New Generation

<< Untill our days there was the thought that only the Philarminic Society of Corfu was at the Olympic Games of 1896. The Mantzaros band was to take part in, but there were many economical problems. There was asked financial support by the homogen Stefanovik Skylitsis, but while the financial support was given, as it is written on the records, however there is not any other recording....>>

We can read on the record of 05/03/1896 that <<... the president says varius about the trasport of the band at Athens due to the Olympic Games and he brings to the council the letters of the council and of the olympic committee, and he asks for the council's opinion. after a lot of opinions and ideas, the president announced the well-disposed proposal of Mr. Stefanovik, about the financial support that will cover the expenses of the trasport to Athens and again back top Corfu...>>>
The members of the band raised money and there were made uniforms and some instrument was also bought. After the closing of the meeting there was accepted the participation of FEM at Athens for after the ensuring of the financial part.
On the following meeting of the council there is no point of the Olympic Games, but on July Mr. Stefanovik awarded as great benefactor.
From the examined material there was no evidence about the participation of FEM at Athens' olympic games, untill the 31/30/2004 when he newspaper ESTIA, published papers of that period. At the column "Mikres Plirofories" there is written << Last night has arrived the second band from Corfu, the band of FEM, and there was a great welcome>>. At the same newspaper, in the column "Theamata kai Akroamata" there was written <<The band of Philarmonic Society Mantzaros will give a concert today at 17:00 till 19:00 and the pieces that will be performed are:

We can now say that the Corfiot music participation on the Olympic Games of 1896 was special and total, and also the historical research abolish the wrong idea that only Philarmonic Society of Corfu was at the Olympic games of 1896.
