The wind ensembles of FEM are the physical evolution of the work that a musician of FEM do over his instrument. the shortt number ensembles gives a special help to all the musicians that part in them, and this is because except from the participation in the band of the philarmonic, in the ensemble it is more clearly seen the personal training and the progress of each one player. The ensemble are not only an opportunity for music expression, but an exteriorization of his artistic attitude.

The wind ensembles have some sections, that comes from the species of the instruments that consist each one of them. However, this dissociation is not strict, as plenty of times the ensemble are formed according to the music pieces that are to be played.

The basic categories - sections that the ensembles are dissociated are:

  • Ensembles of Woodwind Instruments
  • Ensembles of Brass Instruments

Particularly, there are the ensemble in a general view:

Woodwind ensembles :

  1. Wind Quintet (4 woodwinds and 1 horn)
  2. Clarinet Quartet
  3. Flute Quartet
  4. Woodwind Trio (Trio d' anse)
  5. Clarinet corr (ensemble with many clarinets of varius species, clarinet in Mib, Sib, Alto Clarinet an dbass Clarinet)
  6. Big ensemble of wind instruments.(Usually consist of woodwind instruments mainly, flute and clarinets, but there are also 3 horns, one tuba and one trumbet, this is the classic ensemble for performing Scalcotas works)

Brass ensembles :

  1. Bras Quintet (2 trumbets, 1 horn, 1 trombone, and 1 tuba)
  2. Trombone Quartet (either 4 trombones, or 3 trombones and 1 eufonium)
  3. Big ensemble of low brass instruments (consist of trombones, eufoniums and tubas also)
  4. Trombone corr (consist of trombones of all the species, tenors trombones, alto trombones, and bass trombones)
  5. Trombone Quintet (áconsist of five trombones (all tenor trombone or 4 tenors and a tuba (or bass trombone) or 3 tenors, 1 eufonium and a tuba)

* where it is needed the trombone ensembles one tenor trombone could be replaced by an alto trombone due to the high notes of the first voice.

**additionally there are a lot of cases that there is a participation of woodwind instruments over the brass ensembles, such as the example of the participation of a Piccolo Flute in the low brass ensemble.
